Alive Wins Revolution's Media Owner of the Year 2008

Among the many awards, CBS Outdoor’s digital team; Alive, was the proud recipient of Revolution’s ‘Media Owner of the Year 2008’

The Revolution Awards reward the best in digital marketing, taking into account not only innovation and creativity, but also accuracy of meeting clients' objectives. This year's roll call includes all the categories of Revolution's 2007 awards, with the addition of a new affiliate marketing accolade - a nod towards a sector with increasing prominence in the digital industry.

The accolade of Media Owner of the Year was awarded to CBS Outdoor’s dedicated digital sales unit. Alive’s commitment to developing this new medium was a key factor in this award, over £35m has been invested in the 3 products alone, it’s positioning has

also ensured that it has not affected traditional posters ads and instead and promoted the unique benefits that digital formats on the Tube could bring to advertisers; flexibility of message, more sophisticated behavioural targeting through day parts and moving images all broadcast in HD quality. 

As Revolution magazine said when voting Sales Director Nicky Cheshire into their “Digital Power 50”, “CBS Outdoor is generally acknowledged as the trailblazer when it comes to digital outdoor media”   

Alive has forged partnerships with agencies such as Glue, Dare Digital and Jelly and deliver groundbreaking campaigns for some key advertisers such as Intel and Vodafone, bringing online creative out-of-home for the first time. Becks used the formats for socially-conscious advertising targeting consumers from 5pm onwards only; McDonalds deli used them for specific day-part messaging;  The Discovery Channel were sold on the amazing

quality of image they could achieve on the HD-quality screens and showcased some amazing underwater footage for an upcoming programme;  Yell.com used LED Buses with GPS tracking to change the message as it went through different postcodes in London.  This campaign won both the Cream of Venice award and a D&AD pencil.

The team have been called on as spokespeople for digital in the press, at numerous events, and even on London Tonight and CNBC news as specialists in their area. And they are succeeding in their quest to grow the digital Outdoor sector through incremental revenue. As we post this award, the OAA is reporting growth for the digital out-of-home sector of 49% for the year.  During the same period, the Alive team grew revenues by 400%, out-performing the market eight fold, and becoming a key factor in Outdoor’s well reported growth vs. other media.
