Museum of Illustration to open online ahead of physical venue
26 July 2007

Museum of Illustration to open online ahead of physical venue 26 July 2007 Illustrator Quentin Blake is behind the museum, which will celebrate the art of illustration and its power to communicate messages. The charity was first established in 2002 and is currently seeking a permanent Central London location.

Following a competitive pitch, digital creative agency de-construct was appointed to carry out the work.

It has already begun outlining plans for the site, which will go live next month, a digital marketing strategy and digital installations. De- construct will also work on fundraising activity for the museum and develop ways to integrate mobile.

Business development director Dan Douglas said, "Those behind the museum want to make digital an essential part of it, so even before it opens it's using the digital space to celebrate illustration."

The museum will host work from new and established British illustrators including the Quentin Blake archive and his work for Roald Dahl, Russell Hoban and Joan Aiken.

"The museum is very supportive of digital as it sees illustration as anything that communicates an idea, including many areas of digital," said Douglas. "So we want to create a really exciting home for it that reflects this and what the museum is about."

The agency recently carried out digital outdoor work for Toyota's flagship store in Paris, including multimedia installations, interactive kiosks and integrated activity (NMA 12.04.07).
